Do you have one of those grandmas that is always there for you and you could talk to them for hours on end? Is she a great influence in your life and points you towards God? Well that is exactly who my grandma is.
Right from the beginning my grandma was a strong Christian and was raised in a large family. My grandma was the first of nine kids. Her parents, my great-grandparents were really strict with their kids but they weren't around a lot because they had to support all of their 9 kids. So that lead to my grandma being the “mom” figure in the house. She always cooked and took care of her 8 little brothers and sisters. They were all raised to go to church every Sunday. Their parents made them go to church even if they were really sick. The only time they could stay home was if they threw up.
One day, when my grandma was a little bit older, her brother Charles fell into a tank that was holding water for their livestock and he drown. This was so hard on my grandma and the rest of her family. She still talks about it today and she gets tears in her eyes. They were really close and it just really hit my grandma hard. But she had to keep her head up high for all of her little brothers and sisters.
When she was 18, she moved out of the house and got married to my grandpa Alvin. They lived in a tiny house and then they began to have kids. They had my aunt Kim, then my uncle Craig, then my dad, and two more girls after that. My grandparents were pretty strict with their kids too but not as bad as my great-grandparents.
Although my grandpa had some heart problems and he had to go to dialysis almost everyday, she was always there with him and she always comforted him through all of it. Then a few years back, my grandpa got really sick and they immediatly transported him to the hospital. He was in the hospital for a few days and then had a heart attack. He didn't make it past that heart attack and he died soon after.
Even though she lost the person that was closest to her, she was so strong though it all. She was so strong when she came over to my house and talked about my grandpa and all that he did.
When I get older I want to be just like my grandma. I want to find a husband that I can be with for the rest of my life and take care of him even in the really rough times. I want to be strong like her and follow in her Godly footsteps. Some day I want my grandkids to think of me in this way and always come to me if they need help. Just like I always go to my grandma. We could talk for hours and hours and not run out of things to talk about. I love looking at old pictures with her and hearing all about my dad and my grandpa.
She is such an inspiration to me because of the ways she acts. She follows in God’s way and she trusted Him with everything even after my grandpa died.
I know that I can come to her with everything and she is the best grandma in the world! I love her so very much!
Really cool testimony for your Grandma.
